Meet Tracy Urbain, DPT

Owner, TRAIN Physical Therapy

It all started with a break.  A bone break, that is.  After logging many hours training for high school basketball, cross country, and track I developed a stress fracture. And thus began my interest in physical therapy.  I went to Michigan State University and majored in Kinesiology. Following my undergraduate studies, I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint. Although I enjoyed my experience at U of M, I still bleed green for MSU!

Over the next 12 years, I spent my career practicing an “out-of-the-box” approach to physical therapy utilizing a holistic/integrative and multidisciplinary philosophy.  I worked closely with personal trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and fascial stretch therapists, in treating a wide variety of patients. Helping patients ranging from elite/professional athletes, to weekend warriors, and even a 106 year old woman has been truly fulfilling.

Continuing education has always been an integral part of my growth as a Physical Therapist in order to provide the greatest results for my patients.  Obtaining certifications in dry needling, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and functional exercise (USA weightlifting, Stick Mobility, Battling Ropes, and extensive kettlebell training, to name a few) have helped develop my unique practice style.  I believe it’s also important to pay it forward, as I have been part of many presentations for the Michigan Physical Therapy Association to help further the knowledge in our profession.

Fast forward to July 2021 where my family and I made the decision to move from the Detroit suburbs to Kansas City!  It is here that I would like to share my education and experience with you all by providing individual treatment tailored to your specific needs and to meet YOUR GOALS versus a “one size fits all” approach.

I’m looking forward to meeting you!  TRAIN Physical Therapy is located within Freight House Fitness.  Come see the difference for yourself!

Testimonials

'Playing 14 yrs as a professional basketball player in the NBA and Europe I have been exposed to some of the best therapists you can find. Post career it was very important for me to remain active , but of course with age comes aches, pains, and injuries, workouts can be tough on your body.

Tracy is the perfect compliment to help keep your body functional and healthy. She has a skill set that combines multiple therapists into 1 person. She is very knowledgeable and has a deep understanding of your body and kinetic chains. Tracy's work allowed me to continue to exercise at a high level and remain pain free. I am grateful to Tracy for helping me transition into a more healthy existence'.
