FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I need to see my doctor before beginning physical therapy?

A: As of August 28, 2023, Direct Access became official in Missouri.  This means that a prescription from your healthcare provider (physician, physician assistant, chiropractor, dentist, nurse practitioner, or podiatrist) is no longer required to begin physical therapy. Please contact TRAIN Physical Therapy if you have any questions.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: The vision of TRAIN PT is to provide truly exceptional care that is tailored to your specific needs.  In order to offer what we feel is the best care for you, TRAIN PT functions as a cash-based model.

This means we are out-of-network with insurance companies.  You are encouraged to contact your insurance company to determine if you have

out-of-network benefits, in which case, you may be able to submit for reimbursement. I also accept HSAs/FSAs if applicable.

In the TRAIN PT model, you will have dedicated one-on-one time with your physical therapist, versus potentially sharing your time with 1, 2, or even 3 other patients that may occur in a more traditional setting.

Financially speaking, in more traditional models, patients may have 3 PT visits per week.  In the current climate, many insurance plans carry high

co-pays, or deductibles that need to be paid before coverage even begins.  At 3 times per week, that can add up.  Due to the dedicated one-on-one care provided by TRAIN PT, patients may see greater progress in only 1-2 visits per week.  Therefore:

High Quality Care = Less visits = Potentially less money out of your pocket.

Q: What can I expect from the initial evaluation?

A: An in-depth evaluation will be performed to determine the root cause of the issue, versus only treating the symptoms.  TRAIN Physical Therapy utilizes a holistic approach, looking at not just the body part in question, to determine various compensation patterns occurring throughout the body which may be contributing to the issue at hand.  Please plan for at least one hour, and wear comfortable clothing in which you can move.
